Our Interventional Radiology section consists of full-time fellowship-trained faculty working with up to five fellows in our fully ACGME accredited one year Vascular & Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program. We provide service to five hospitals. We are actively involved in numerous clinical trials (aortic stent grafts; covered stents for TIPS, dialysis, iliac occlusion and trauma; retrievable IVC filters, hemostasis; and liver tumor treatment) and have multiple fully funded animal trials. We perform all diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures:
- Aortic, pulmonary, and peripheral arteriography
- Aortic and peripheral stent-graft placement
- Arterial and venous angioplasty and stenting
- Arterial and venous thrombolysis
- Arterial and venous embolization
- Arteriovenous malformation treatment
- Chemoembolization
- Uterine artery (fibroid) embolization
- Varicocele embolization
- Endocrine tumor venous sampling
- Vena cava filter placement
- Foreign body retrieval
- Dialysis access management
- Venous access and port placement
- Magnetic resonance and computed tomography angiography
And all diagnostic and interventional percutanous non-vascular procedures:
- Transhepatic cholangiogram
- Biliary stenting
- Laser choledochoscopy
- Nephrostomy and intraoperative lithotripsy
- Uureteral stenting
- Gastrostomy and gastroenterostomy
- Image guided drainage procedures
- Renal and hepatic biopsy
Our Vascular & Interventional Radiology Section has an active clinical service with admitting privileges and dedicated clinic time for consults and patient follow-up. We have several physician's assistants and work with residents in the second largest medical school in the country.
Research opportunities are available in our dedicated Interventional Radiology Research Laboratory.
