Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) / IVC Filters Minimize

Deep vein thrombosis, commonly referred to as DVT, happens when a blood clot, or thrombus, develops in the large veins of the legs. With prompt diagnosis and treatment, most DVTs are not fatal. However, a blood clot (pulmonary embolism) that forms and travels upward to your chest can be an immediate threat to your life.

An IVC (inferior vena cava) filter is a medical device the interventional radiologist implants into the large vein that returns blood to your heart. This filter can trap and thereby prevent large bloods clots entering your heart and lungs.
