 Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) Minimize

One of the most traumatic injuries for the human body is an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The aorta is the largest blood vessel in the body. It delivers blood directly from the heart and runs down almost the entire length of the body. When this important blood vessel becomes enlarged or suffers trauma, it can rupture or tear. If not treated immediately, the patient can suffer fatal consequences. A life saving procedure performed by radiologists can repair the major artery and vastly improve the patient's chance for survival. A small tube is inserted through a small incision near the groin. The tiny tube, called a catheter can guided to the damaged blood vessel, allowing the radiologist to repair the aorta. Aneurysms can develop slowly over many years and often have no symptoms. It is imperative for the patient to be aware of chest discomfort or pain and seek immediate medical attention at the first sign of trouble.
