Over the last sixty years, the Indiana University Department of Radiology has established a reputation for providing outstanding resident education. Following the accomplishments of five previous Radiology chairs, we are honored to build on their successes.

It is with resolute commitment from the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences that our residents have received important educational benefits over and above those provided by the School of Medicine's Housestaff office. This additional support has included attendance at the AFIP radiologic pathology course, an allowance for radiology textbooks, membership in the RSNA and ARRS, and funds for travel to national meetings.

In the past, our clinical operations funded these special educational opportunities, but for the foreseeable future, we see very little clinical money available to fund resident education.

Accordingly, the department requested that the School's Gift Development Office investigate the feasibility of establishing an endowment for radiology resident education. We found that there is great loyalty and respect for the department, and that you, our alumni, support our educational mission. Thus, the department has begun a fundraising campaign, including an annual giving program, to build the Indiana University Radiology Education Fund in support of resident education.

Gifts to the fund will enable the department to provide ongoing support for educational experiences that go above and beyond those provided by the Indiana University Housestaff office. With your help, we will continue our long-standing tradition of exceptional radiology residency education experiences, including AFIP, visiting professors, and education research electives.

Donations to the new fund are tax deductible, and can be made by direct donation, through deferred gifts, the creation of named funds, or by designating the Radiology Education Fund when you submit a donation to the Indiana University Foundation.
